Meet Albé
Dr Albé Fourie is a Counselling Psychologist with thirty years in practice. Working primarily through Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting, she helps adults heal trauma held in the body, with particular focus on anxiety, grief, chronic pain, and relationship difficulties. She also offers equine-facilitated somatic workshops, and consults in person and online, in English and Afrikaans.
Albé is a Counselling Psychologist with three decades of experience in practice. Her work is grounded in the understanding that trauma is not only remembered but held in the body, often surfacing as anxiety, sleeplessness, irritability, chronic pain, or a persistent sense of being unable to settle. Rather than working with the story alone, she works with the nervous system itself, helping clients gently release what has been locked in the body so that they can return to themselves with greater ease, capacity, and aliveness.
Her primary therapeutic approaches are Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting, body-based modalities developed specifically for the treatment of trauma. She trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner over many years with international faculty and now assists in training the next generation of SE practitioners in South Africa. Her wider training includes TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercises), clinical hypnosis, and ego-state therapy, and she holds a doctorate in psychology from UNISA, where her research explored accessing subconscious resources in the discovery of the self.
Albé works with adults, individually and in couples, around trauma and PTSD, anxiety, stress, depression, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, chronic pain and autoimmune conditions, and personal growth. Alongside her consulting room work, she offers group and individual sessions within the context of a horse herd, where equine-facilitated somatic work opens a different, embodied way of learning about grounding, boundaries, and self-regulation.

She consults in person at Conscious Health Collective in Lynnwood Glen, Pretoria, and online, in English and Afrikaans.
